Historically, women has always put themselves last when it comes to health, or any other needs as compared to their families. This is potentially a function of a society that is focused on putting women second as well.

Medically speaking, due to the anatomy and physiology of a woman’s body, women’s illnesses can present in different ways than men. Research also says that women can face a higher number of underdiagnosis and misdiagnosis as a result of women not displaying symptoms more well known and researched. It is also researched that there are many stigmas that a woman can face accessing care for their reproductive health.

While the physical and mental health of women is generally trivialized, it causes a deep impact in functioning of their families and the societies at large.

All of this creates a need for a holistic approach and comprehensive services for women’s care, which should work together to deliver better preventive and curative care for women.
